2022 Northern Ontario Country Music Awards Weekend
After a 2 year delay due to covid restrictions, the 2022 Annual Northern Ontario Country Music Awards Weekend was held on the Weekend of Friday November 4th, and Saturday Nov 5th, 2022 at the Quattro Hotel & Conference Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. We hosted people from all over Northern Ontario and beyond. Attendance at the Awards Show was over 400.
The weekend events were held at the Quattro Hotel and Conference Centre on Great Northern Rd.
The weekend kicked off with a "Great Northern Opry All Stars Event" on Friday November 4th, featuring past inductees from across Northern Ontario.
Two events were held on Saturday evening, Nov 5th, running back to back.
The first was "The 2022 Northern Ontario Country Music Awards Show", beginning at 7 pm. Music for the show was provided by White Stallion and Friends, who accompanied music performed by seven inductees into the Great Northern Opry and two inductees into the Northern Ontario Country Music Hall of Fame. Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Allan Mooney.
The seven Inductees into The Great Northern Opry this year were:
- Claude Lecuyer from the Nipissing and Parry Sound District
- Kevin Meisenheimer from the Nipissing and Parry Sound District
- Dan Champagne from the Cochrane and Temiskaming District
- Claude Rocheleau from the Cochrane and Temiskaming District
- Urban Mejaki from the Manitoulin District
- Rolly Lafantaisie from the Sudbury District, and
- Lois Jones from the Algoma District
The 2022 Northern Ontario Country Music Hall of Fame Inductees were:
- Ron Schryer - Algoma District, and
- Scott Infanti - Algoma District
Also Inducted into the Hall of Fame was NOCMA founder Dave Patterson. Sadly, Dave passed away suddenly earlier this year.
Allan Mooney and his wife Robin were presented with the Dave and Carol Patterson memorial award for their ongoing assistance with the NOCMA.
The second show of Saturday evening was a "Great Northern Opry Show and Dance", featuring River Valley from Sudbury.
THE NOCMA COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS WEEKEND IS NORTHERN ONTARIO'S OLDEST ANNUAL COUNTRY MUSIC EVENT! 2022 marked the 33th year of the Northern Ontario Country Music Association. The Northern Ontario Country Music Association works to promote and recognize Northern Ontario Country Music Talent.
